Features of the Character Counter
Paste and edit text while counting characters, characters without whitespace, lines, paragraphs, and a rough 400-character manuscript-page estimate. Use it when drafting social posts, form text, emails, essays, or Japanese manuscript-style documents, then copy the adjusted text.

Forms, resumes, and profile text
Some forms and profile fields have character limits. This tool shows both the total character count and the count without whitespace so you can check both styles.
Japanese manuscript-page estimate
The manuscript-page estimate uses 400 characters per page as a rough Japanese writing reference. It helps when checking the approximate length of essays, reports, and drafts.
Social posts and readable drafts
- Check social post length while drafting and editing.
- Copy the adjusted text from the button below the input field.
- Use line and paragraph counts to review text structure.
Frequently asked questions
Is the text I enter saved?
No. The text is processed only in your browser and is not sent to a server.
What is excluded from the no-whitespace count?
Spaces, full-width spaces, line breaks, tabs, and other whitespace characters are excluded.
How are emoji counted?
The tool counts JavaScript string code points. Many emoji count as one character, but complex combined emoji may not always match visual character count.
